Embark on a journey of creativity and self-expression with our Introduction to Sewing & Fabric Crafts class tailored specifically for beginners. Whether you’re completely new to sewing or looking to refresh your skills, this welcoming and supportive environment is the perfect place to start your textile adventure.

Gretchen shares her love for sewing and fabric crafts, this class provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of textile artistry.

This workshop meets twice: Wed, Apr 3 & 10.

Learning Objectives:

Basic sewing terminology
Basic operation, parts, and functionality of a sewing machine
Patterning and cutting
Seam allowance
Straight stitch
Zig-zag stitch
Applique
Exposure to a variety of fabrics
Exploring artistic application and functional uses

Gretchen Wood | Art Educator

Gretchen Wood holds a BS from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and is currently a graduate student at Edgewood College in Madison, WI pursuing a MA in Art Therapy. Gretchen works out of Soulflower Studio in Appleton and her paintings tend to focus on nature themes and animal subjects with bold colors, organic shapes, and floral motifs. Her passion is to spread a message of hope and healing through the arts. She loves both teaching and creating, helping others to develop skills they can use to enrich their lives.
