2023 Project Purpose Mural at Appleton East

Project Purpose

TMA is partnering with artists Neo & Valerie Medina and area district Special Education, Autism, and ID (Intellectual Disability) departments to form Project Purpose for the second summer.

Project Purpose is a collaborative mural experience this August that focuses on uplifting and highlighting students in the Special Education Program. This project will give students the ability to use art as a form of expression to emphasize their own unique abilities. Many students don’t communicate in the same way as others do, and they have talents that others also do not have. This event gives students the freedom to let their talents be seen!

Thank you to our sponsors:

Project purpose integrates student learning through community involvement, peer leadership, and creativity. Students of all abilities have the power to positively impact their school communities by promoting social inclusion and being leaders of change.

“Art was my first voice, before I ever had a platform, before I ever really thought that people were listening. Art is a good vehicle into self-care and self-help.”

Meet the Artists

Valerie and Neo Medina both earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. It was through art school where the dynamic duo found not only a continued love for art, but also for each other. Together the pair reside in the Fox Valley area. They share a wide variety of skill sets ranging from large mural work to intricate detailed drawings. Their main goal is sharing their passion of creating through advocacy and community engagement.
