Art Education
The Trout Museum of Art offers free and tuition-based workshops for youth, teens, and adults, taught by professional artists. These hands-on workshops provide creative skill-building and enrichment in an inspiring environment.
Please note: While the museum is moving to our new location in Summer 2025, limited programs will still take place at alternate venues. We look forward to welcoming you to our new space this fall! Stay tuned for new-building workshop registrations later this summer.
Summer ‘Spray’ Camp
Ages 11-14 (sold out) or 14-18
In Spray Camp, artist Neo Medina will teach students about mural making and public art. Students will learn a variety of applications of exterior latex paint as well as spray paint. By the end of the week, students will get to put their skills to use in creating the 4th annual spray camp mural in downtown Appleton.
Please note, this camp will not be held at 111 W College Ave as the museum is moving to our new location. Instead, students will meet at the Appleton Public Library and at times walk as a group to the Downtown Appleton Red Ramp where the mural will take place.

SPARK! Memory Workshop
Open to Adults with Memory Loss & Caregivers
SPARK! is a free monthly engagement art program for adults living with memory loss and their care partners. Each one-hour program is led by specially trained museum educators who cultivate interactive visual art experiences.
Hosted at the Appleton Public Library over the summer.

Fare-Well: Art & Death Café
Open to Adults
A free art education program intended to encourage community conversations about death and mortality through the lens of history, art, and creativity. Death Cafés are a global movement aiming to normalize discussions about death, an often-taboo topic.
Hosted at Wichmann Funeral Home Tri-Cty Chapel over the summer.

Education Spaces
in the New Museum
Education at the new Trout Museum of Art will thrive in purpose-built spaces designed for learning, creativity, and connection.
With two fully equipped studio classrooms for hands-on artmaking, a lecture room for talks, and an outdoor classroom that invites Downtown Appleton into the learning experience, these new spaces will support a wide range of programs for students, educators, families, and lifelong learners.
